Proctor High School welcomed a very special guest this week, Dr. Betty A. Rosa, the New York State Commissioner of Education and President of the University of the State of New York.
Dr. Rosa received a firsthand look at the innovation, collaboration and learning that define the Utica City School District. Her visit captured the heart and spirit that make UCSD a special place. Speaking with students and visiting classrooms, Dr. Rosa had the opportunity to listen to students and discuss their high school experiences.
Several local officials and dignitaries were also at this special event. Their presence exemplifies the support and recognition of the impactful work happening in the district. A highlight of the day was showcasing the new Career and Technical Education (CTE) wing, a shining example of how UCSD is preparing students to be career-ready and future-focused from day one.
The innovation made a positive impression on Rosa, who will continue her work across the state and carry the inspiration from Utica as a true testament to public education in New York State.
